Biography
Andrew holds a BFA in painting from the University of Oregon. However, after finishing school, he took an 18-year hiatus and
worked as a graphic designer and art director in New York. He started painting again in 2003 under the tutelage of noted
painter Jock MacRea, an award-winning artist whose work appears in both corporate and private collections.
Andrew’s contemporary style derives from such influences as Willem deKooning, Matisse, Roualt and Robert De Niro, Sr. His medium is mainly oil, and his paintings are both abstract and figurative. For Andrew, the painting process is organic from start to finish. He builds his own canvases, makes his own paints, and frames the paintings afterwards himself. He also cartoons and plays blues guitar. Andrew lives in Mount Kisco, New York. “My work reflects an expressionist sensibility as well as an art historical context that, I hope, makes it both emotionally and intellectually compelling.” |
